How to Use LinkedIn’s Social Selling Index Score for Your Small Business

Written by on August 19, 2015

LinkedIn
is the largest social network for professionals with over 360 million users around the world. They’ve recently added a new and very interesting feature to their website: Social Selling Index Score.

Social Selling Index Score

You can find your personal social selling index score here.

The score shows you, in simple terms and with the help of graphs, how established you are on the social network. In LinkedIn’s words the social selling score is defined in the following way:

“Your Social Selling Index (SSI) measures how effective you are at establishing your professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships. It is updated daily.”

The score currently takes four categories into account:

  • Establish your professional brand
  • Find the right people
  • Engage with insights
  • Build relationships

The Social Selling Dashboard doesn’t only display your own score, but it also shows you how you’re ranked in comparison to your industry and network.

Each of the four categories feature links to documents which will help you to improve your score and get ranked higher. Carefully go through each of the categories and documents in order to get help improving your score and get more business through LinkedIn.

The Social Selling Dashboard also shows your performance on a weekly basis and goes more into detail about how other people in your industry and network scored in comparison to you.

Improve your score for more business

Your network on LinkedIn might include your suppliers and customers and therefore it is quite interesting how you rank within these people. Your score within your industry will include competitors and people in similar positions as yours. Having a clear aim (e.g. to be #1 in your network and industry) is always something good to aim for. It is the perfect motivation to write one more high-quality, engaging status update on LinkedIn or to connect to one more important person or to reach out and comment something valuable on one more status update of your connections.
